Applicable To: Foreigners who are the mother, father, or adopted child of a Colombian national.

Specific Requirements:
Verification of Colombian Nationality: The Visa and Immigration Authority will check the database of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the Colombian nationality certificate or registration resolution of the adopted Colombian national. If this verification is not possible, the applicant will be required to provide this document.
For Children: When applying as the adopted child of a Colombian national, the applicant must be under 25 years old and economically dependent on the Colombian national by adoption.
Authentic Copy of the Birth Certificate: The birth certificate must certify the first-degree consanguinity relationship between the adopted Colombian national and the foreign applicant, according to the laws of the issuing country.
Application Letter: A letter signed by the adopted Colombian national, stating their relationship to the applicant (either as parent or child). If the applicant is a minor, the letter must be signed by those with parental authority or guardianship.
Proof of Economic Solvency: Provide bank statements from the last 6 months showing average balances and sources of income.

Application Requirements: The applicant must provide evidence of the adoption relationship and proof of the genuine family connection.
Place of Application: Although the visa application is online (there is no way to do it in person), it is recommended that you be in the place from where you will present the visa in person. You can apply while in Colombia, as long as you are in a regular situation in the country (if you have been in Colombia for less than 3 months on a tourist permit or if you have requested an extension of your tourist permit and have been in the country for less than 6 months, or if you have been on a tourist permit for more than 5 months but want to apply for a special permit). You can also apply from your country of nationality or residence, as long as you have a valid identification document in that country.
Adoption Documents: When presenting the visa application at a consular office, valid adoption documents in accordance with the laws of the place where the adoption was declared will be accepted, with compliance with the formalities required for foreign documents.
Restrictions when applying for this type of visa: The adoption must be genuine and in accordance with legal standards. If the adoption is annulled or the relationship is otherwise invalidated, the visa will become invalid.
